Chinese start-up has created wrapping paper that mends and unwrinkles itself after 5 minutes in the dryer
Rip Again, a crowd funded start-up has created the worlds first self-healing wrapping paper. The team hopes that their product will help reduce the waste generated by the tradition of wrapping presents.
Lao Ming got the idea for the product when he was a young boy. Lao worked at a paper refurbishing center. He (8) and his younger sister (6) would carefully glue and iron out used gift wrapping paper shipped in from overseas. "The paper was always ripped in a barbaric fashion." he recalls, "It was very difficult to put it back together."
The team still has a lot of work to do before their product is ready for the market. They are still working on how to recreate the satisfying sound that comes from tearing a piece of unrecycled wrapping paper.
